Elise has always been at home amongst artists and image makers. Her first camera was a pin hole camera she made from a milo tin to make pictures of her friends in the primary school playground.  After studying Visual Communications at UTS, assisting photographers and working as a photo editor, Elise shot stills on Laurie McGuiness' 1992 road movie Broken Highway and never looked back. Photographing stills for Australian feature films, Elise has created iconic still imagery for productions including Palm Beach, Lantana, Somersault, Love Serenade, Blackrock, Traps, The Well and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of The Desert. Her photography has been published and exhibited internationally.

Elise collaborates with diverse clients including creative agencies, film production companies, writers, producers, actors, artists, interior designers, businesses and families.

Elise has photographed for The Sydney Theatre Company, Film Australia, Beyond International, Jan Chapman Films, Kennedy Miller Mitchell, Red Carpet Productions, Southern Star Entertainment, Belvoir Street Theatre, Fairfax Media, Alliance Trading and Ausdance, to name some.

In 1998 Elise was invited by The Art Gallery of NSW to create a working portrait studio in the gallery as an adjunct to the blockbuster exhibition, “Orientalism.”  Elise has held solo exhibitions in Sydney and San Francisco, and has contributed to collections including the Australian Commercial and Media Photographers Collection, The National Portrait Gallery, the National Film and Sound Archive and The National Library of Australia.

Elise lives in Sydney with her husband, film maker PJ Voeten and their two teenagers.
