Australian photographer Elise Lockwood is known for evocative cinematic portraiture, her stills photography representing film and television productions globally.

As much at home in a portrait studio as on location, Elise has most recently created stills for Jon Bells’s The Moogai , Garth Davis’ anticipated feature FOE, Heartbreak High and George Miller’s cinematic epic, Three Thousand Years of Longing.

Elise has held sell out solo exhibitions in Sydney and San Francisco, contributing to public photographic collections including The National Portrait Gallery, The National Film and Sound Archive, the Australian Commercial & Media Photographers Collection and The National Library of Australia.

Elise’s first break as a stills photographer was on Laurie McGuiness’ film noir road movie, Broken Highway. Other movies followed; among them, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Lantana, Somersault, Love Serenade, Blackrock, and The Well; Elise was invited by The Art Gallery of NSW to create a working 19th century pop up portrait studio in the gallery as an adjunct to their blockbuster exhibition, “Orientalism” in 1998, after her successful pop up studios for The Solstace Ball and The Sydney Mardi Gras in the early 90’s. Her photography has been exhibited at The National Portrait Gallery, NSW Art Gallery, Byron Mapp Gallery, Samstag Museum of Art Adelaide, RAM Studio San Francisco and Olympic Park Melbourne, and her work has contributed to The Wilderness Society in celebration of unique ecosystems to protect in Australia.

Elise’s photography has appeared in publications, books, poster art and digital platforms; for Netflix, Amazon, MGM, Kennedy Miller Mitchell, Amazon, Film Nation, Sydney Theatre Company, ABC Television, Film Australia, Beyond International, Jan Chapman Films, Mud Jeans, Red Carpet Productions, Vogue, Southern Star Entertainment, Belvoir Street Theatre, Fairfax Media, E-One, Alliance Trading, and Ausdance to name some.

Elise holds a Visual Communications degree from the University of Technolgy, Sydney (UTS) and lives on Borogegal country in Sydney.
